Hosted mail architecture

CrownvMail is Crownvo’s hosted business email layer. It is designed to feel like a focused Gmail or Zoho-style mailbox while remaining connected to Crownvo workspaces, conversations, identities, and domain administration.

1. Mail flow

  • Outbound webmail uses authenticated SMTP submission through the MTA.
  • Inbound SMTP is accepted by Postfix, filtered and signed, then delivered to the mailbox store and the inbound bridge.
  • The bridge forwards RFC822 messages into Crownvo when a mailbox is linked to a workspace.
  • Replies are correlated by message headers and normalized subjects so a conversation can stay together.

2. Custom domains

A customer connects a domain, publishes DNS records, verifies ownership, and then creates mailbox identities on that domain.
  • MX points mail delivery at the CrownvMail MTA.
  • SPF authorizes the sending infrastructure.
  • DKIM uses a per-domain selector and public key.
  • DMARC tells receiving providers how to handle unauthenticated messages.
  • Cloudflare automation can create records when the customer grants access; otherwise the UI provides records for manual entry.

3. Mailbox controls

  • Mailboxes can be send-and-receive or send-only for addresses such as noreply@.
  • SMTP and IMAP credentials are separate from the Crownvo account session.
  • The webmail UI provides inbox, sent, drafts, archive, spam, trash, compose, reply, forward, and thread actions.
  • Mail authentication results and DKIM signing are observable through delivery diagnostics.
